Drink Plenty Of WaterDid you know our bodies are made up of over 75 percent of water, as you are aware we cannot live without the intake of water?

If you or I didn’t drink water we would only survive approx 3-4 days. Instead of drinking boring old water we tend to go for drinks such as soft flavoured drinks and sugar sweetened juices.

We need to replenish our water levels regularly. The amount needed varies greatly from individual to individual due to the amount of exercise we do and of course our differing weights. Researchers have shown that over 2/3rds of adult’s today don’t drink enough water on a daily basis.

Water needs to be consumed on a regular basis to keep our bodies hydrated and functioning correctly.

Do you drink water when you feel thirsty?

By the time your body tells you that you need fluid you have possibly lost almost 2 or more cups of water from your body’s water supply. A good idea to keep topped up throughout the day is to have a bottle of water with you at all times and to sip the water every so often.

Drinking alcohol or coffee is not good as a substitute for water as these type of drinks act as a diuretic and can cause you to lose more fluid than usual, every time you exercise you will lose quite a bit of water due to sweating.  For approximately every pound lost through exercising you will need to drink 2 glasses of water.
Try to consume about 1.5 litres of water a day to keep your body topped up.
